Time Management

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  • Jeremiah 29:11

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

  • Hebrews 11:39-40

“A couple traveling through the countryside was lost.  They spotted an old man on the side of the road and asked, ‘Where are we at?’

“’Where are you going?’ came his reply.

“’We don’t know.’ They said.

“‘Then it doesn’t matter.’

“When we don’t have a sense of where we are going, where we are now isn’t that important.  Only when we have a purpose – where we are going – can we make heads or tails out of how to use our time.

“… Our purpose helps us prioritize.  Our priorities form solid ground for us to stand on when we make plans and set goals. …

“God always provides enough time to accomplish God’s plans.”

  • Patrick M. Morley, From Purpose … To Time Management, a devotion in God’s Abundance, edited by Kathy Collard Miller

Do older people finally give in to God’s plan for their lives or did God plan for them to have all those ‘life experiences’ to count on in accomplishing God’s plan?  In a way, it’s kind of a chicken and egg kind of argument.

From the Scriptures above, it seems that God’s plan is better than anything that I can dream up.

Soli Deo Gloria.  Only to God be the Glory.

  1. Hi Mark,
Since your first quote from Jerimiah was a plan that was 70 years or so in the future, and your second group is patiently waiting for us since the first century, I’m thinking God’s not in a big hurry.
