I have been playing a bit on my solitaire application lately. A recurring advertisement pops up that drives me crazy. It shows a photo of a woman, in obvious bliss, sitting in a lotus position. The advertisement is about a micro-dosing technique for mental health medications, “guaranteed” to make depression go away fast.
It just bothers me that it is yet another means to draw people away from the only sure guarantee (save some with a true chemical embalance) for depression and that is a life-saving belief in Jesus Christ. I believe that it was an Os Guinness book, but I cannot remember that they discussed how the Hippies dropped out and turned on. While the Jesus Revolution (Jesus Movement) drew some to Jesus, the bulk of the Hippies reentered society, but when depression hit them, they turned to psychiatrists and chemical means, this time prescription drugs, to rid themselves of the depression. Their mantra was Anything But Christianity (ABC).
They denied the true source of peace. They denied the Creator that put the world in balance, and could easily do that on an individual basis.
They went to transcendental meditation instead of prayer.
And now, they advertise to the following generations that they can do the same.
And God is watching and waiting. He does not break the door down. He waits for people to come to their senses, and those that have will never regret it. Those that have not, are still looking for answers.
God loves you, and He wants you to be His own.
