I have anguished over this topic for months.  We were on Jeremiah 7 in our Sunday school class about the time my wife passed away over six months ago.

In the class discussion, we talked about the present-day argument in colleges around the world that there is no objective truth.  I stated that Mom and Dad spend thousands of dollars to a university that takes their child, with all this knowledge gained in high school, and then the university extracts all that knowledge based on no objective truth.  The university gives the child, now an intellectual vegetable, back to their parents.  The child is so unfit to do any work at all that they cannot even ask “Do you want fries with that?”  They will start wondering what fries really are and the customer will go to the fast-food place down the street that only hires high school students who have not gone to college to become uneducated.

I like what a comedian said about his philosophy degree.  He defended the university that gave him his degree because now when he asks people “Do you want fries with that,” he can truly argue multiple views on why people ask that question.

But then, our Sunday school class got into the gender dysphoria question.  With the LGBTQ+ community backed by many psychiatrists and many of the same therapists back the gender dysphoria issue, it bothered me why these therapists would make such a radical 180 degree turn around on the topic.

Then something that I heard 20-30 years ago came to mind.  Every type of doctor tries to cure their patients except for one.  If the mental health community cured their patients, they would not come back for more therapy sessions.  They would not ask for prescription refills.  This is not me claiming this, but someone telling me that was the case, and it makes sense.

The more gender dysphoria there is, the more people line up to see the therapist.  It is like tonsillectomies were in my youth and tubes in children’s ears were when I had children.  It has become the new fad, but this time, the result is devastating.  I have heard several people state that the highest suicide rate is among people who transition, find that the transition did not solve their problems, and then there were complications when transitioning back.

Many of these people who think something is wrong are running away from the Truth, the Truth that can only be found in Jesus Christ.  As many people call it, they have a hole in their life and only God can fill that hole.  It is the God-shaped hole, in the vernacular.  But in these days of no objective truth, they hold one “truth” to be objective.  They look for meaning in Anything But Christianity, the ABC exclusion.

But I also like another comedian’s argument.  If there is no objective truth, then the rule that states there is no objective truth must be false.  The comedian said the professor gave him an “A” just for him to not bring that argument up again.  So, then, we have two flaws in the theory.  There is objective truth and excluding Christianity would be fallacious, in that someone might find objective truth there if it were not excluded.

And that is why they argue that point.  People find Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and now knowing the Truth, why go back to argue with the professor who does not know what he is talking about.

Like the therapist, in finding God, the purveyors of no objective truth lose their audience.

Yet, thousands of years ago, Isaiah and Jeremiah both prophesied that there will come a time when truth has perished.  But are we living in that time?  It depends.  Are you willing to step out of the no objective truth line and find the truth you seek in the Son of God?  In Jesus Christ?
