The Last Nine Chapters – Psalm 75

We praise you, God,
    we praise you, for your Name is near;
    people tell of your wonderful deeds.
You say, “I choose the appointed time;
    it is I who judge with equity.
When the earth and all its people quake,
    it is I who hold its pillars firm.
To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’
    and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.
Do not lift your horns against heaven;
    do not speak so defiantly.’”
No one from the east or the west
    or from the desert can exalt themselves.
It is God who judges:
    He brings one down, he exalts another.
In the hand of the Lord is a cup
    full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
    drink it down to its very dregs.
As for me, I will declare this forever;
    I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
    but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

  • Psalm 75:1-10

I quoted the entirety of Psalm 75.

It sounded so much like what I think God might be saying to the Climate Change Alarmists.

We are prancing around making claims that we can fix climate change.  At the same time, we are ignoring God more and more, especially in government.  The alarmists and the government leaders want to take freedoms away from the people in order to enact strong penalties on the people of the earth.

They quote “science” that they have paid for.  I have not had to make that decision, but I worked with people who have sold their soul for the government dollar.  I worked with people who designed equipment according to what these people suggested, and because they had lied to the government to get millions of dollars of funding to do something that I told my boss would not work.  The basic science of what the man wanted our company to produce was opposite of what the man told our company and the Federal government.  He got his millions, but he never had to pay any of it back when the project went years with no results.  I was not assigned to check the veracity of the numbers.  I just saw those who were working on it get frustrated.  It took one common resource, five minutes of calculations, and I told my boss that it would never work.  My boss told me to shut up.  He told me I was wrong.  Why?  We had an open-ended contract, getting paid about $150 per hour per engineer with four or five engineers assigned to the job (the $150 was to the company, not the engineers doing the work), and we got the money whether it worked or not.  If our company had run the numbers and found that the process could never work, our stream of easy money would be gone.  This was not a Climate Change process, but it was environmental in nature.

How do you think all this happens, and how a common claw hammer can cost a thousand dollars?  The government is pressured by the media to produce solutions.  They pay a scientist to say something that can be spun to make sense, sort of.  And then they enact a law that pays for the funding.  When it does not work, they throw more money into it.

And I have not mentioned parties.  The government in general does this, many of them overpaid civil servants that are not elected.

They can’t stop themselves.  If they did, the money would stop and they are only a few hundred thousand short of buying the island they always wanted.

But in this Psalm, God is saying, “I see you ignoring me, and what you are doing will not work, because I am sovereign over the entire universe.”

As C. S. Lewis said many years before anyone hinted of Climate Change, he said that when the entire world is going the wrong direction, the most progressive man is the one that turns around first.

We need to repent.  We need to turn around and head in the right direction rather than keep going in the wrong direction.  The one who reaps the reward will be the one who praises the God of Jacob.

Soli Deo Gloria.  Only to God be the Glory
