A Little Confession Quiz

“When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

  • Luke 12:11-12

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

  • Exodus 34:27

But I have nothing definite to write to His Majesty about him. Therefore I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that as a result of this investigation I may have something to write.

  • Acts 25:26

This quiz is a group of random questions, but the first letter of each answer spells out a problem that I have been having lately.  Thus it is a bit of a confession.

I will have a few hints as to the secret message (two words, first one needing an apostrophe).  The interludes will basically cover the little confession, and maybe a warning.

Of course, with this type of quiz, you may not need to get all the answers to the quiz questions to solve the secret message.  Once you figure that out, you at least have the first letter of the answer.

The Questions:

5What priest thought Hannah, soon to be the mother of Samuel, was drunk, but later he accepted Samuel and taught him?

12After the death of Sarah, the Scriptures say Abraham had another wife who produced several children.  Who was this mother of Jokshan and Midian and grandmother of Sheba, among others?

When I first started writing these blogposts, now nearly seven years ago, I wrote about reading two devotions each morning and one devotion at bedtime.  In addition, I did daily Bible reading.  But as my wife got sick and I started writing more posts each day…

Those consume time, but those are excuses.  Before my wife died, she said without her, I would have more time to write, but I have spent more time staring out into space.

Part of my devotion lapse has been that I have not found a really good devotion, but even that is an excuse.  That may be why I had a lapse, but then the bad habit of not picking up the devotional book became the norm.

I may read more than I ever did before in doing research, but that does not replace devotions and personal time with God reading His Word.

Okay, that was my little confession.

Now for the hint, I used to take notes with every book I read, especially devotionals.  I have not done that much.

Those notes is where I went to find something to write, unless something was burning on my heart.

And lately, even quiz topics have been hard to think of.

So, these are my hints and a warning to other writers out there.  You can minister to yourself while you write so that others can be edified or encouraged, but things get harder when you loose good habits like taking notes while reading, doing devotions, and having a personal reading time with God.  Ideas do not come as easily as they once did.

I guess if you cannot think of what to write about, you might have WRITER’S BLOCK.

Whether you did well on this quiz or, ummm, not so well, for the first video, here are Random Action Verb Worship singing The Worship Song Song.  I am thinking that they may have had a Writer’s Block Moment, and they wrote this song about the outline of a worship song.

And here is Surgenor singing Forgive me, Lord.

And here is David Jamir singing Family Forgive Me.

And here is the First Methodist Church of Houston, TX singing Lead On, O King Eternal.
