In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
- Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
- John 1:1-5
“I have been suspected of being what is called a Fundamentalist. That is because I never regard any narrative as unhistorical simply on the ground that it includes the miraculous.”
- C.S. Lewis, Reflections on the Psalms
I have seen the media’s attacks on Christianity. But that is nothing new. Darwin’s theory had no evidence to back it up, but he created it in order to change the narrative away from God. He had a closed mind and an evil agenda. So why do Christians get that label?
We see things on occasion, not every day, that defy explanation. Do we not need an open mind to consider that a miracle could be the reason for the inexplicable?
And when you have tried to pray and God did not bow down to your will, you cannot say that you have tried Christianity, and it failed. Christianity is bowing down to God’s will. Christianity never failed you, for you missed the point.
And how can Christianity be hate speech when Jesus teaches to love God, love your neighbor, and love one another? What is wrong with wanting your neighbor to go to Heaven and bask in God’s Glory for eternity?
But if you have a closed mind, you would scoff at these questions rather than do as C.S. Lewis suggested that he did. He regarded the narrative. He thought it through. He drew the only conclusion that could address all his concerns.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
