Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.
- Proverbs 17:6
You didn’t even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye. You have done a foolish thing.
- Genesis 31:28
Early the next morning Laban kissed his grandchildren and his daughters and blessed them. Then he left and returned home.
- Genesis 31:55
You shall live in the region of Goshen and be near me—you, your children and grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all you have.
- Genesis 45:10
that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”
- Exodus 10:2
Even while these people were worshiping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.
- 2 Kings 17:41
I was in Tennessee for nearly two full weeks, counting driving down and back – more than two weeks. Several times, I asked my grandchildren to simply give me Bible stories. The youngest said, “The seven plagues of Egypt.” Okay, there were ten, but I could write an entire quiz about those ten things, which might be the topic next week. But the children gave me, “I don’t have a clue what you are talking about” until their parents sat in on the discussion and suddenly, they could remember things. Okay, one is a teenager. One will be a teenager in six months. The third knows everything that ever was known by anyone until you ask him a question – and then you will find what you never find any other time, him being silent. Yes, he knows everything until put to the test and then … he knows nothing. He is 10 years old.
This quiz is about something related to the ten Bible stories that they came up with. They could have dreamed up ten obvious ones, but as it turns out, they are as obscure as their grandfather, but you did not hear that from me.
The questions are in biblical order. Two questions are from the New Testament, one being a parable.
The Questions:
| Question | Bible References | Answers | |
| 1 | Who was the first recorded murderer, killing his brother? | ||
| 2 | Assuming Noah started to build the ark right after Shem, Ham, and Japheth were born, how long did it take Noah to build the ark? | ||
| 3 | In the first sign given by God to prove God had sent Moses, what was turned into a snake? | ||
| 4 | What did Samson tell Delilah that led to him losing his strength? | ||
| 5 | Where was the wife of Uriah the Hittite and what was she doing when David saw her from the roof of the palace? | ||
| 6 | Where did Nebuzaradan take the Jews into exile? | ||
| 7 | Into what was Daniel thrown when he disobeyed the order of King Darius that no one other than Darius would be the object of their prayers? | ||
| 8 | We know that Jonah was swallowed by a huge fish, but why was he in the sea to begin with? | ||
| 9 | Where was Jesus and what was He doing, while the disciples fought a terrible storm at sea and were afraid they would lose the boat? | ||
| 10 | Why was a Samaritan chosen as the “neighbor” who showed concern for a mugged traveler in the Parable of the Good Samaritan? |
Questions 8 and 9 both deal with a boat, a sea, and a storm. Only times a storm was calmed. One more example of how the ministry of Jesus parallels the story in the book of Jonah, other than the “Sign of Jonah” being Jonah in the large fish three days while Jesus was in the tomb the same length of time.
Maybe question 4 came to mind because our son, the father of these three children, did the same thing, but he wasn’t a Nazarite. Some scholars argue that the act that Delilah performed is not what robbed him of his strength, but Samson belittled the rites of the Nazarites as being set apart for the service of God. The physical act then became an outward sign of the betrayal of Samson toward God.
Question 2 begs that many arguments against a global flood do not make sense. With this much time, why not move to higher ground? And one engineer figured out how many trees would have to be cut and dressed to make an ark of that size and determined that the four men would need nearly 90% of the available time, working six days each week without a break. Then, the other ten percent of the time would be assembling the timber into an ark and gathering the animals and the food storage. Again, why not just seek higher ground? Why take birds? They would just fly away from the storm.
My granddaughter has become obsessed with snakes, question 3. She has a pet yellow boa constrictor named “banana bread.” Do not call them and ask the question “What have you had on banana bread lately?” If you are thinking of a sweet bread, whatever their answer will be disgusting until you realize they are talking about a snake.
And in question 5, part of the answer is found in the woman’s name – which completely went over my grandson’s head when he could not remember her name.
The last question is fairly open-ended if you get into the specifics.

Teach your children when they are young. They are like sponges in their early years, and you should want them remembering important things, rather than the best technique to kill a vampire on a particular video game.
But to their credit, when I asked my grandchildren several times for Bible stories, they talked about the attributes of God. Of course, they painted God as being loving and forgiving and merciful. The “omni-“ stuff was mentioned by the teenager, while the others might not understand the concept of “infinite.” And most adults avoid the idea that God will eventually judge everyone, albeit a different kind of judgment for believers and non-believers.
Our children are being force-fed a secular worldview while the biblical view is forbidden in public schools. Any proof that the secular worldview is impossible is hidden or simply ignored. I had a texting battle with a journalist a few years ago. She contended that ignoring the mountain of evidence that did not support her reported viewpoint, which had practically no “suggestive” evidence, none that proved anything, was simply discarding evidence that did not fit the narrative. It was unneeded extra evidence. She would never admit that she was giving a false report. In other words, the media are told what the conclusions must be, and they follow orders. If they do not comply, they may not be employed long. Thus, very few people control the narrative. Many people flock to non-censored media on the internet, but is that information source-checked?

The Answers:
| Question | Bible References | Answers | |
| 1 | Who was the first recorded murderer, killing his brother? | Genesis 4:8 | Cain killed his brother Abel. |
| 2 | Assuming Noah started to build the ark right after Shem, Ham, and Japheth were born, how long did it take Noah to build the ark? | Genesis 5:32; Genesis 7:6 | 100 years, which makes many arguments against a global flood sound ridiculous. |
| 3 | In the first sign given by God to prove God had sent Moses, what was turned into a snake? | Exodus 4:2-4 | Moses’ staff |
| 4 | What did Samson tell Delilah that led to him losing his strength? | Judges 16:17 | If you shave my head, I will be as helpless as any other man. |
| 5 | Where was the wife of Uriah the Hittite and what was she doing when David saw her from the roof of the palace? | 2 Samuel 11:2 | On her roof, bathing. |
| 6 | Where did Nebuzaradan take the Jews into exile? | 2 Kings 25:11 | Babylon |
| 7 | Into what was Daniel thrown when he disobeyed the order of King Darius that no one other than Darius would be the object of their prayers? | Daniel 6:7 | The Lion’s Den |
| 8 | We know that Jonah was swallowed by a huge fish, but why was he in the sea to begin with? | Jonah 1:15 | The sailors threw Jonah into the sea to calm the storm. He had disobeyed God and was running away – thus the storm. |
| 9 | Where was Jesus and what was He doing, while the disciples fought a terrible storm at sea and were afraid they would lose the boat? | Mark 4:38-29 | Jesus was in the stern and asleep. They asked Him if He cared, but He knew how to calm the storm. |
| 10 | Why was a Samaritan chosen as the “neighbor” who showed concern for a mugged traveler in the Parable of the Good Samaritan? | Luke 10:25-37 | John 4:20 is one of many reasons that the Jews hated Samaritans in that they did not worship at the temple. They intermarried – thus half-breeds. They were at war off and on with the Jews. Notice in Luke 10:37 that the expert would not even say the word “Samaritan.” |
