- Genesis 7:2

- Acts 23:23
This quiz has numerical answers from one to ten. It is basically a fill in the blank quiz.
Some of these verses might be familiar. Since each number from one to ten is used only once, knowing a few of these eliminates those numbers. That makes the guesswork or the nerve-wracking lapse of memory – “I should know this, but I cannot remember exactly!!!!”
The questions are in biblical order so that the answers will not be in numerical order. That would simply be too easy. But one of the answers corresponds with the question number.
Not by design, but there are five verses from each of the Testaments. All but one Old Testament verses are from Genesis. All but one New Testament verses are from the Gospels.
The Questions:
| Question | Bible References | Answers | |
| 1 | A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into ____ headwaters. | ||
| 2 | That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become ____ flesh. | ||
| 3 | When his son Isaac was ____ days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. | ||
| 4 | Then Leah said, “God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honor, because I have borne him ____ sons.” So she named him Zebulun. | ||
| 5 | I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there ____ days | ||
| 6 | “We have here only ____ loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. | ||
| 7 | When the ____ heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. | ||
| 8 | and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom ____ demons had come out; | ||
| 9 | Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other ____? | ||
| 10 | And I will appoint my ____ witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” |
In thinking of these verses, you might think of common uses of a certain number of something.
For example, Jesus was in the tomb three days. Jonah was in the fish three days and three nights. But wait. There are two verses above that are numbers of days.
Some of these numbers you can determine by basic mathematics. You might know a number that is not mentioned. Then there is a number mentioned besides the blank. Could the difference in the number that you should know and the given number be the number in the blank?
And the first verse speaks of rivers coming from the Garden of Eden. One of those rivers is mentioned often in the Bible, and one is only mentioned in this paragraph. But are there other rivers?
I thought with these hints, or instructions on how to work these kinds of questions, this is not that terribly hard of a quiz. But, you still must know a few things.

Being an engineer, numbers have been a part of my life. Engineers measure things. Engineers calculate things.
I went into chemical process modeling when I finished my undergraduate degree. I felt anything could be reduced to mathematical expressions and a result predicted.
But then, I ran into the one thing that numbers could not measure – humans. Humans get creative and change what you had perfectly set up according to the numbers. Humans can make mistakes. And all of this is done randomly.
I wonder if that is what chaos theory is all about?
Of course, there can be mechanical failure. Some of the mechanical failure is due to the human element. If you drive an automobile in a herky-jerky fashion, some parts will wear out quicker than normal. I have ridden with people who had one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake at the same time. Whether you sped up or slowed down depended on which foot provided more pressure, but each brake pad was lightly touching the rotor all the time. I have ridden with people who did not know how to make a smooth turn. They would almost drive off the road, or into the other lane, and then jerk the wheel to correct their error. Long sweeping turns might require five or six jerks of the wheel, maybe even more. Then, they wonder why their steering column needed to be replaced. Yes, I know that nervous tic has led to steering column replacement. But ever since the Fall of Man, the world has been broken also. And things in the world break.
But if there is anything that is “pure”, now we can predict what might happen. I wonder if I can use my mathematical modeling skills in Heaven.

Whether you did well on this quiz or, ummm, not so well, for the first video. Here are the Asidors singing One Day at a Time (sweet Jesus).
And here are Shane and Shane singing Psalm 8 (How Majestic Is Your Name).
And here is Randy Travis singing Three Wooden Crosses. This song gets me every time I hear it.
And here is Matt Redman singing 10,000 Reasons.
I have written about this last song before. I have more than 10,000 reasons to praise the Lord. But most people cannot think of themselves as that bad that we have sinned that often. Most people cannot comprehend the millions of things God does for us in our lives that keeps us from danger or steers us toward Him. Thousands seem more comprehensible, but maybe I have simply used bigger numbers in my lifetime, or I have squeezed more life in each breath God lets me have. Hmm. How often do we take a breath? The internet says 7.5 million breaths each year is a normal amount. Yes, when it comes to praising God, 10,000 reasons is a rather beautiful song, but a puny number.
