Something or Someone that Never Sleeps

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

I have heard many people describe New York City as being the city that never sleeps, but I bet that some corners of the city get quiet in the wee hours.

On WordPress, the latest statistics for daily posts is an hourly bar graph.  When I first saw it, I wondered why?  I know that more than half of my views were from the USA, so the normal “awake” hours in the USA should have more views than the others.  And the peaks make no sense at all, but with the statistics increasing recently, I have seen the site not “go to sleep” for a few days, not missing an hour, once over a week between one hour here or there, oddly in the middle of the day in the USA.

When I first started, I had days that had no traffic until after the sun went down.  I wondered if the internet was broken.  But I hung in there because I felt a calling to write.

This may sound like a total change in the subject, but one of my favorite professors would have pop quizzes every class period.  One quiz might be to ask a single question:  “Is the sun shining?”  He would never use this pop quiz on a sunny day.  If it was raining cats and dogs or if it was a night class, that would be a possible question.

The point is that just because you do not see the sun shining, it is always shining.

The internet, without a total collapse of the system is on all the time.  If no one is reading your stuff at that hour does not mean your stuff is not readable.

And God is looking down on you every hour of the day.

The city that never sleeps might take a cat nap.  The internet might be unavailable in your area due to a massive power outage.

But God keeps watching.  His Love never fails.

Soli Deo Gloria.  Only to God be the Glory.
