For those who have been wondering. The ophthalmologist said that it is only vitreous separation at this phase. As small chunks fall from the gel area into the liquid area of the age, commonly between the ages of 55-70, you can get little tugs on the retina, causing the lightning flashes. I could get retina tears if a large chunk were to fall suddenly.
So, I am grateful for all of the prayers. If I have no trauma for the next month, I may have dodged a bullet. Even then, retina repair is common and not much of a problem these days.
The doctor said he gets vitreous separation about three times a day, but it is better to be safe.
Yet, I think God had something to do with it.

Mark, my husband has expericed something very similar. He’s a jeweler and had the flashing lights and was so afraid it was a detaching retina. We called the ophthalmologist immediately who saw him the next morning—she said it was a bit of tearing nerve tissue and would clear up on its own—which thankfully it did. It is a scary sort of thing!!
I’m just so glad you are good to go!!!

Even scarier when you are snowed in, but one of our church friends said that he had a vehicle that could get me to the hospital if needed. This may not be a problem, but the free ride is nice to know for the future.

Good news, although I must have missed part of 1 of this.

I was seeing lightning flashes just as the previous winter storm was hitting us. We were stuck at home. We had to wait four days for the verdict. I am in that danger period when the vitreous gel collapses, but if I take it easy, I won’t get a retina tear.
