Praise the Lord!
The surgery was supposed to take 2 or 4 hours. They removed what they intended to remove and sent frozen sections to the lab for analysis. Both sections came back with no cancer. In the meantime, the surgeon waited twenty minutes after removed the parathyroid adenoma, and then took a blood sample. Her parathyroid hormone dropped from the high 700s to 110, with normal being about 80. The doctor felt that the parathyroid function would continue to improve and level out about normal within 24 hours of the surgery.
So, no cancer and parathyroid function much better. She had a little difficulty during recovery – high blood pressure – but even the nurses said that was normal with many patients. She is fine and resting. I hope to get het home by the end of the day that this post is published.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
