A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
- Proverbs 31:10-12
I went to Tennessee to bring my wife back home to Pennsylvania, mostly due to her needing to visit doctors. She had surgery shortly before she went to Tennessee in December. She got in her exercise, babysitting an active five-year-old, but between her being away and the lockdown from COVID-19, the doctor visits to follow-up after the surgery were postponed – not the check that the surgery scars were healing, but what the surgery was supposed to fix.
In the bloodwork in preparation for her latest nephrologist appointment, it was determined that her kidney function has dropped to less than 15%. This puts her in the range for end stage renal failure (and possibly in need of dialysis), but the doctors are baffled that the last bloodwork showed such a drastic change.
She had a medication change a week before that caused a series of problems. The new medication reacted to her system to thin the blood. Since she is taking Coumadin, she checks her blood periodically. Three days after starting the new medicine (for something other than the heart), her blood was off the charts, way too thin – dangerously so. So, the cardiologist had to adjust the Coumadin – four days without taking her blood thinner at all. Once her blood thickness was restored, we had the bloodwork done for the nephrologist. It is doubtful that her system was back to normal though.
Everyone is hoping that this was a bad drug reaction. The new drug is discarded. Another drug is temporarily suspended, and more bloodwork will be done, including scans in case this does not work. She may need dialysis, but I really do not wish to mention the “D” word, until it comes.
Just one more example of how we look to Jesus, for God has the problem in the palm of His hand.
And we thank you all for your prayers.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
I am praying for your wife, Mark. I don’t know her name, but Jesus does and as you say He has this in the palm of His hand. In fact He calls us to lay our burdens on Him and He will hear our prayers. May He also strengthen you through this difficult time. She is blessed to have you at her side.

Kitty is not on her birth certificate but she has been Kitty since she left the hospital in Jakarta Indonesia. Thank you so much for your prayers. The last two nights she has let me cook. Just too tired. But it is really challenging to cook for my dietary needs and hers. I have to avoid a lot with the IBS issues and she has to avoid potassium. Good thing I studied Chemistry.

She is not home yet, but dialysis has been avoided. They think it was a bad drug interaction.

Thank goodness, at least they may have found the issue so it can be fixed.
