A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
- Proverbs 17:17
“Friendship…is born at the moment when one man says to another ‘What! You too? I thought that no one but myself…’”
- C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
Have you ever had things happen in your life that did not make sense and there was absolutely no one who you could call? I know, Ghostbusters, but that is not what I meant.
Have you ever had the need to talk to someone and the someone that you usually talk to has passed away or moved South for the winter?
Have you ever thought that you had a close friend that you could share your troubles with, and after you shared them, the friends said, “Thanks!! Now I have all my troubles and the knowledge that your troubles are worse. Some comfort you are!!!”?
Have you ever had a friend that you could tell your deepest, darkest secret to and you knew they would keep the secret? Okay, I dipped into shear fantasy on that one…
Have you ever needed a friend?
Have you ever had all the above in one week? In one day?
Jesus can be that friend, but sometimes we need to cultivate that friend here on earth that may let us down every now and then, may blab our darkest secret to one or two others, and may ask us for help more than we ask them. But can we call and ask, “You got a minute?” and then we take five minutes, and they don’t complain.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
What a friend we have in Jesus.

I was thinking of a link to that song, but I missed my chance.
Thanks.
