Thoughts from Mark "Hat" Rackley

Love never fails.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

• 1 Corinthians 13:8-12

I had a dream the other day.  I was working with a friend on a project.  The friend was someone who had passed away some time ago, but it seemed natural for us to be working together.  I cannot remember the type of project, but it was to glorify God in the end.

I was getting frustrated because the pieces of the project were not fitting together quite right.  In true engineering style, I started dissecting what we were doing to figure out why it was not working the way that we thought it should work.

At one point, my friend placed his hands over my hands as I feverishly kept working.

He looked me in the eyes and said, “You do not yet understand.  You are trying hard, but you are not there yet.”  He smiled and winked.

With that, I awoke.

It took me a few days before the importance of that dream came to me.  Why do I not remember the project?  Not even the type of project?  Because that is not important.  The importance, from someone who is on the other side, is that the Apostle Paul is correct.  We only see in part.  We only understand a few of the pieces, but once we are with Jesus in Heaven, we will see and understand the entire puzzle, and all the pieces will fit perfectly.
