The ruined city lies desolate;
the entrance to every house is barred.
In the streets they cry out for wine;
all joy turns to gloom,
all joyful sounds are banished from the earth.
The city is left in ruins,
its gate is battered to pieces.
So will it be on the earth
and among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.
- Isaiah 24:10-13
“History repeats itself.”
- George Eliot
“History repeats itself, but in such cunning disguise that we never detect the resemblance until the damage is done.”
- Sydney J. Harris
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
- George Santayana
To get the quotes about history repeating itself out of the way, the news coverage about the utter shock over the sudden collapse of Afghanistan is idiotic. What is happening is tragic, but to say that we are shocked is simply stupid. I can close my eyes and see the image of the helicopter taking people from the roof of the Saigon embassy, now named Ho Chi Minh City. Can we simply be “educated adult” enough to say that the USA got apathetic and pulled out of a war in a place that they should have never been in to begin with – again. Remember how the USSR faired in the same location.
As for the question of education or brainwashing, not learning from our mistakes could be included, thus, I lumped these together.
I have seen a commercial for some organization that is not satisfied with the Paris accords and wants to accelerate the process. It shows children looking into the camera, most angrily, and spitting venom at all adults. The general statements consist of “You did nothing and our future depends upon you having done something.” I love the little boy who seems to honestly say, “I’m only six. You figure it out.”
These children, probably using a carefully written script, are condemning us, the older generations.
It’s typical woke culture, cancel culture ideology. There is no room for forgiveness, even if you did your part, and most of us did as we were told. We, those over 20-something, are guilty. Of what? Who knows!
But again, we forget history. I received my chemical engineering education in the early 70s. The thing now taught as climate change was “fixable” according to the experts by eliminating chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons. So, aerosol cans were modified. Deodorants and room air fresheners were redesigned. Deodorants: from aerosol sprays to roll-ons-to sticks. Who can remember all three? Some household products simply disappeared. Then, the “guess” was refrigerants and air conditioning systems, refrigerators and freezers were redesigned. But that guess was not correct either.
We did a lot chasing guesses with no true science to back up the guesses. Now we are condemned by snotty nosed children for not doing anything.
And I do not blame the children. They have been taught a number of things that I was never taught. I was never taught to be disrespectful. I was taught to listen to my elders. And they were brainwashed into thinking that the solution to climate change has been known for decades or even centuries and we have done nothing. So, who taught them? The media and the “scientists,” who probably flunked freshman chemistry (yes, an attempt at contempt) but learned to say what politicians wanted said to make money, did a lot of the teaching. I marvel at how the climate change “science” mirrors that of evolution and millions of years. Nothing proven – hide evidence that disproves the popular idea (that idea that makes money for the media, politicians, and the scientists that say the right words (lies, but the words that get you paid).
That leads children to think that their parents are at fault and destroys that relationship. The same kind of thing that I have written about a few times recently.
But whenever you get frustrated and feeling that life is out of control, remember:
- God is in control.
- God loves us.
- This craziness is the result of people listening to Satan’s lies.
- And Jesus defeated Satan nearly 2,000 years ago.
- Don’t worry. God has this.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
I really appreciate your ideas. Thanks for being a patriot to truth. Keep up the good work. I’m going to reblog this because it’s that good.

What is the old saying? Beauty is only skin deep, but stupid goes down to the bone? I think I got that right.

What is happening today, and I’m certain it’s always been happening, but with electronics and media, on steroids. A decent man once said, question everything. I took this to mean whatever I believe or state as true, I must know why I believe so. If I don’t, then I leave it in the pondering column. The youth aren’t being given this opportunity because many have parents propagandized to go along. We see politicians in error, a horrific media, propagandists, Marxists, and yes, teachers, creating a culture of lies and propaganda. Yes, I included teachers, for I was one, so I know. The good teachers, the ones who truly think for themselves with responsibility, are pressed out. The new ones are vetted, but if they aren’t truly propagandized, they’re pressed out before tenure, so they’ll eventually leave or go private.
**The times we live are very key. We have the responsibility to share what we’re writing. The youth are surrounded by a lying media, television and Hollywood with the worst morals, parents who’ve given in because they are just trying to survive in an insane world (Never judge parents, but encourage with real conversation.) or some are propagandists themselves, and controlling Marxist politicians who won’t give us a minute to breathe. But we know how to breathe, so we show.
All the best.

Thanks for you comments. My son is a teacher, a music teacher, in a impoverished elementary. He has his hands full just trying to teach music, but I think he would agree with you.

If he is able to do a good job, then we encourage him to keep doing his best. I suppose, some places might be better, and those who can should continue. All the best.

Good post; reading this post 4 months later it is still emotional for me even as I knew the fall of Afghanistan was inevitable…this past summer was a very emotional summer for me with this news…

I can imagine just as the secular progressive movement is for me, having served in the Cold War.

As I get older my appreciation for those who served during the Cold War have only increased; especially the wait for what pretty much is forecasted as a potential war with USSR and the massive casualties that would have been…

It was a delaying action until reinforcements arrived. I was supposed to blow up materials used for bridging, so they would not be available. God is good. I never had to do that.
