The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
- Genesis 13:14-17
When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.
- Genesis 14:14-16
Please do not get technical. The locations in this quiz are places that Abraham, born Abram, was in, near, or between. If we only listed places when he was “Abraham,” the quiz would get rather short.
The first Scripture above is when Abram and Lot split company. Lot went to the fertile lands near the Jordan. The second Scripture is when Abram finds out that Lot is captured. In the verses of the second Scripture, two locations are mentioned, Dan and Hobah.
This will be an anagram quiz. I will provide the answer(s), but the letters will be scrambled. For the second Scripture above, I might have given the answers as: AND & ABHHO. I thought that some of these locations may be easy, and then some would be diabolical. At least providing letters to unscramble might help.

These are not all the places where Abraham (Abram) travelled. He may have never stayed in any one spot very long, but no movements are recorded during the events between Genesis 14 and 20, except for his military escapades to rescue Lot. Another place name during these chapters is mentioned when he meets the priest (and king of Salem), Melchizedek. They met in the Valley of Shaveh.
It was while at the answer to question 6 that Abram had his name changed to Abraham.

I got this idea from a word search puzzle in a package from the Navigators. We have donated to them on several occasions. One of the Word Searches was titled Abraham’s Travels. That is all it took to get me to read through thirteen chapters of the Bible to create this quiz.
I learned of the work of the Navigators about the same time that I became born-again, over 50 years ago. They spread the Gospel around the world and their publishing company, NAVPRESS, has published several texts that I have used in my Bible studies and in Sunday school.

And regardless of how you did, here is a song by Pernell Roberts, They Call the Wind Maria. I know it is not spelled the same as in question 9, but it is close enough. The video also proves that Ben Cartwright had three sons at one point (although Little Joe is not in any of these scenes), but Pernell Roberts left the show.
A song by Josh Baldwin, Abraham.
This next song tells the story of Abraham. Sung by Chords of a Man, Abraham’s Song.
