- Leviticus 27:16
This quiz is as stated, all about “family.” Yesterday, the relationship lesson was on Abram and Lot. Sometimes families are dysfunctional. Sometimes the responsible party or the father (with Abram, he was an uncle to his orphaned nephew), the circumstance is that you give continuously while the other party takes. But how can we ever pay back to God what He has given to us? It is impossible, but if we do God’s will on this earth, especially His perfect will for us personally, it pleases Him.
But with that in mind, I wondered what the Bible says with regard to family. In the Old Testament the primary reference to family is a person’s immediate family or a family tree. The focus shifts in the New Testament to our church family or family of believers. The NIV mentions the word “family” 205 times. The Scriptures above show four such references. The first reference to “family” is shown from Genesis 5, the family line from Adam to another key pivotal character, maybe the answer to the first question (HINT).
The Questions:

3 | A quoted verse: They replied, “The man questioned us closely about ourselves and our family. ‘Is your father still living?’ he asked us. ‘Do you have another brother?’ We simply answered his questions. How were we to know he would say, ‘Bring your brother down here’?” Who is “the man?”
4 | A quoted verse: Any male in a priest’s family may eat it; it is most holy. What may they eat?
5 | Each family that was camped around the tent of meeting camped under their standard and held what to signify their family?

9 | Why must an overseer have a family that is well managed and children who obey him?
10 | The devil prowls like a lion looking for someone to devour. What knowledge helps us to resist? |
Family is very important, and the thought of family importance is disappearing in secular society. Some organizations are openly attacking the “nuclear family,” that family of a father, mother, and two and a half children, give or take a little. But even Jesus warns that a family may not be a bed of roses, unless you are considering the thorns (a hint to one of the questions).
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
Many people, some within my own family, quoted this verse as a guarantee, instead of a wise saying. Maybe what the child learns is the rules to follow, at least a few of the socially accepted rules, and totally rejects the God to serve. This saying in Proverbs 22:6 has some truth in it, but not a guarantee to salvation.

But then recently I have been reminded of how many families we are a part of. For those who write blogs and read blogs, we have a family online. In some aspects, we may be closer to them than our immediate family. We share from the heart.
We have a church family, and to expand from there, we have the family of believers. The line in the Apostle’s Creed does not talk about the Roman Catholic church. It is referring to a belief that the entire body of believers is a united Catholic church, united in one thing, a sincere belief and trust in Jesus Christ.
But then we have our physical family. We are part of a family headed by our parents until we go out on our own and head a family of our own, still honoring and respecting our parents and grandparents.

Whether you did well on this quiz or, not so well, here is The Family Prayer Song sung by the Asidors.
And another from the Asidors, here is The Family that Prays together Stays together.
And here is The Family of God, sung by Music of Hope. Since Bill and Gloria Gaither composed it, I am sure they have a recording, but I like hearing a variety of singers.
And here is God’s Family composed and sung by Tommy Walker (with Scott Hamilton filming some of it on his phone?).
If you like these Saturday morning Bible quizzes, but you think you missed a few, you can use this LINK. I have set up a page off the home page for links to these Saturday morning posts. I will continue to modify the page as I add more.
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
