inside I am like bottled-up wine, like new wineskins ready to burst.
- Job 32:19
Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.
- Judges 7:19-21
And Huram also made the pots and shovels and sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished the work he had undertaken for King Solomon in the temple of God:

This quiz is not about sea going vessels. It is about things that you can carry or hold water in: bottles, bowls, buckets, jars, jugs, and pots. The reference, as with the “jar” reference from Judges 7 above, may not be holding water at the time. And have you ever noticed that Gideon’s army of 300 did not have weapons? A little earlier than the passage quoted states that in their empty hands, Gideon gave them a trumpet and a jar with a torch in it. God gave the Midianites bad dreams, and they were so frightened that they killed each other before running away. All Gideon’s army had to do was run into the camp and pick up more swords than they could carry. “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” Indeed.
The questions are in biblical order. The questions will be about verses having one of the words mentioned earlier: bottles, bowls, buckets, jars, jugs, or pots. In many cases, you might have to read a few verses before or after the referenced verse for the answer.

9 | The last reference to jar in the Bible is describing the ark of the covenant which contained a gold jar of what? | ||
10 | It is obvious that the last reference to bowls would be the seven bowls of the last seven plagues, but not really. One of the angels that poured out one of the bowls comes to John and offers to introduce him to whom? |
A couple of hints. Only two questions pertain to the New Testament, even though the last use of five of the six water carrying vessels. The last reference to “pots” omits references to pottery and potter.
And for another hint, two questions relate to the same thing sent from God, thus that thing is the answer to one question and something about that thing is the answer to the other.
I know, my hints can be more obscure than some of the questions.

In two trips to India, I commuted past small villages between our hotel and the steel mill, mostly during water gathering time. The water gathering at the well was a joyous occasion in most cases. It required a team effort. When you have up to three pots of water balanced on your head, it takes a “village” to lift them up and place them there.
In one village, the majority of the ladies, dressed in saris, were on one side of the village, all helping each other. On the other side of the village, women dressed in modern clothing were far fewer in number and they had to make more trips, since they did not have the available people. I have prayed for these women. They may have been the Christians of the village. Regardless of the reasons to be ostracized, they had a harder life.
On a different trip, I saw a young girl who was carrying a single pot in her arms and she was crying. The village was a communist village and we were instructed to never stop in the village for our own safety. I wondered if the girl fell, dropping her water, and to return to the well would mean there would be no one to help her. Another reason for prayer. I say girl. She looked to be a teenager or younger, but looks can fool you.
The work that women must endure in India and other countries like India is very arduous. Probably few ladies in the USA could keep up the pace. I doubt if I could. That much water on their heads. A gallon of water weighing nearly eight pounds. Just balancing the empty pots would be beyond me. I’m a klutz!!
