How Many Quiz

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I am still not totally back in the saddle, still in the grief process.  I don’t remember who said it, but someone said that the person who said there were five stages of grief must not have been grieving.  You skip stages.  You have all five stages at the same time.  It is simply your entire world all jumbled.

I praise God in writing this.  On the day of writing this, I am praising God that tornadoes tore through near where loved ones lived, and they were spared.  But that was last Saturday as of when this comes out.

This quiz could easily be the first quiz, before the 140 other ones, give or take a few.  It simply asks how many?  Since one verse does not answer any of the questions, there will be no Bible Reference section.

Some of the questions will be multiple choice.  All the questions refer to the accepted canon of Scripture for the Holy Bible without the Apocrypha.  The last three questions are specifically about the NIV.  And when mentioning a word and how many times that word is mentioned, the number includes such variants as adding an “s” or “d” or “ful”, etc.

The Questions:

 QuestionMultiple Choice AnswersAnswers
1How many books are in the Old Testament?
2How many books are in the New Testament?
3How many books in the Old Testament have only one chapter?
4How many books in the New Testament have only one chapter?
5How many chapters are in the longest book of the Bible?
6How many books of the Bible have 50 or more chapters?
7How many chapters are there in the Bible? (Multiple Choice)666, 929, 1189, 1234
8How many times is the word “love” mentioned in the NIV?180, 458, 686
9How many times is the word “hope” mentioned in the NIV?180, 458, 686
10How many times is the word “faith” mentioned in the NIV?180, 458, 686

Some of this is trivia.  Does it matter how many chapters are in the Bible?

The significance of what is in the Bible and the length of the Bible is that the Bible is God-breathed and useful for instruction.

As for a hint, all the books of the Bible that satisfy question 6 are found in the Old Testament.  The longest books, by number of chapters, in the New Testament are Matthew and Acts, both with 28 chapters.

Another bit of trivia: There are 32, nearly half, of the books in the Bible with ten chapters or less, but remember that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Stephen Langton, divided the Bible into the chapters that we use today.  That was done in the early 13th Century, so Christianity spread for 12+ centuries without the chapter divisions.
