The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

  • Proverbs 12:18

A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.

  • Proverbs 13:17

There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sore, no healing for you.

  • Jeremiah 30:13

Editor’s note:  About the title, this quiz is about “healing”, but the crazy quiz writer likes messing with the quiz titles.  This quiz is not sick, but it might not be easy either.  Do not run to your anti-virus software and run a scan due to taking this quiz.

This quiz is about verses containing the word “healing.”  Healing can be an adjective or a verb.  In fact, two answers are the same word.

The questions are in biblical order.  Since there is about the same number of references to “healing” in the Old and New Testaments, there are five questions from each.

The Questions:

1When King Ahaz did evil in the sight of the Lord, God allowed the Arameans to defeat them.  Israel also defeated them, taking prisoners and plunder.  But Oded, a prophet and several leaders in Samaria told them to release the prisoners and let them return to Judah.  Besides clothing the naked, putting the weak on donkeys, and feeding everyone, what did they give the people of Judah for healing?
2In Proverbs 16, Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and healing to what?
3Isaiah says that if you do this properly, sharing your food with the needy and your shelter, your light will break forth like the dawn and your healing will quickly appear.  What is this in reference to?
4In Jeremiah 8, there are two references to “healing” in Jeremiah’s poem about sin and punishment.  One says we hoped for peace and got terror.  Then in a familiar verse, Jeremiah asks Is there no what in Gilead?  … no physician there … no healing for the wound of my people?
5Ezekiel prophesies that there will be a river and fruit trees will grow on either bank.  The fruit will be good for food while the leaves will be used for healing.  From where does the river originate?
6In Matthew 4, he tells of the trial in the wilderness and then talks of Jesus preaching, calling disciples, and do what else?
7Some Pharisees, in Luke’s Gospel, say that Jesus should leave (being in Jerusalem for the festival of Tabernacles), because King Herod wants to kill him.  Jesus says that on the third day, after healing people, He will be done, and Jesus calls the king what species of animal?
8Jesus claims that people are setting out to kill Him because He healed a man’s whole body on what day?
9In a listing of manifestations, Paul tells the Corinthians that some will get one and some will get another, one of the several is healing.  All of them come from what source, but which each person gets is up to this source’s discretion?
10In a parallel to Ezekiel’s vision, John says that the trees along each side of the river will have leaves that heal, but John states the healing is for what?

My healing is semi-complete.  I had a kidney stone that the doctor modified his measurements recently.  The stone was more than three and a half centimeters in length, right against the kidney.  Three and a half centimeters is roughly an inch and a half.  There was one emergency surgery to place a stent in the ureter next to the kidney, so that there could be flow and alleviate pain and a feeling of sickness.  Then there were three procedures over a month’s time to remove the stone and a few smaller ones.

Next is the determination of what is causing all this mess so rapidly, but I will not know what the path forward is until mid-April.  God can heal, but sometimes He lets the doctors have their hand at it.  And if I have to give up some of my favorite foods …  Ouch!  It will be hard, but I have already given up onions and garlic within the past year due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).  I must keep telling myself that I can do it.

Church prayer warriors are often asked to pray for healing, but in John 5:6, Jesus asks an invalid if he wants to be healed.  Whether the sick person wishes to be healed or not, the prayer warrior only has one thing in mind, complete healing, but our intercession is always with God’s Will being in mind.  Yet, it is amazing to go over old prayer requests and see how many people have been healed.

Prayer works.

And thinking of that, my son needs prayers as he is going through a very hard time.  My daughter-in-law thinks that some of his problems may be a side effect of the medication he was placed on to reduce the seizures.  The seizures do not seem to have been reduced and the side effects may be bringing on very unfortunate side effects.  And the doctor that prescribed the medicine is not returning calls.
