This is what the Lord says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.
- Isaiah 44:6
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
- Isaiah 63:8-10
“Q. How are these articles divided?
Into three parts: the first is about God the Father and our creation; the second about God the Son and our redemption; the third about God the Holy Spirit and our sanctification.
- Heidelberg Catechism, Question 24
Q. Since there is only one God, why do you speak of three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?
Because God has so revealed himself in his Word that these three distinct persons are the one, true, eternal God.

The Message
The first of these questions is in regard to the organization of the Apostle’s Creed. Please search for Vespers – Apostle’s Creed for the biblical proofs.
But really, the organization of the Apostle’s Creed in three parts is the reason for the next question and answer. Oddly, in going through the philosophy discussion yesterday. It was on the Trinity.
God is in three persons. They have their own distinctive personas.
God the Father is outside time and space. He reigns supreme over all things. His Will be done.
Jesus Christ our Lord, Son of God. He came to earth and provided the living sacrifice for our sin. God’s justice is now satisfied for anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus.
And the Holy Spirit is everywhere. He is within us. He gives us power. He gives us guidance.
And we are never alone.
And now let us sing.
Here is Gloria Patri sung by Changing Lives Ministry.
Closing Prayer
Dear Lord,
We believe in You. Oh, Lord, we need You. We need You to see the big picture so that all this works out and makes sense. We can do nothing to save ourselves, so we need Your Son. And we need the Holy Spirit with us and in us every moment of every day.
In Thy name we pray,
Amen
Soli Deo Gloria. Only to God be the Glory.
