That Mercedes Benz is going to break down.  I want to know the unsearchable things.

What do we pray for?  Do we pray for things that are not in God’s will, and then add “according to Your will” as a guarantee at the end?

I had a conversation with someone recently about the salvation prayer.  They asked me what I thought of it.

Well, if the heart was right, and they recognized they needed God more than life itself, then the salvation prayer did not save them.  It was an affirmation of what God had already done within them.  They had surrendered their will to God.  The salvation prayer became important, by affirming that God was their Lord.

But if the heart is not right, what they are essentially doing is telling God what to do.  God does not care for the arrogant and boastful.  And if you tell God what to do, you place yourself above God.  So, God cannot give anything to someone above Him, for God is infinite.  There is no one above God.

Thus, the salvation prayer to someone who places Himself above God, demanding God act like a magician on a stage, is a meaningless prayer, except for one thing…

The lost person praying that prayer might think that it worked.  And he might never humble himself before God.

God is God.  We are not God.  And the awesome majesty of the presence of God will bring us all to our knees and call Him ‘Lord of lords and King of kings.’  But only those already humbled will understand and realize the greatest prize.
